The Final Senior Experience Team Session (And Why I’m Retiring the Program)

< back to blog

Some chapters deserve a proper send-off. Not just a quiet wrap-up, but a real, intentional, flowers-stuffed-in-a-chair kind of ending. That’s exactly what the last-ever Jaden Giorgianni Photography Senior Experience Team session turned out to be, and honestly, I couldn’t have written a better finale if I tried.

Three young women are posing together in a sunny open field during golden hour. They’re all dressed in light-colored, flowy outfits with cowboy boots, giving the scene a relaxed boho-country aesthetic. One woman is sitting slightly elevated in a chair decorated with bright flowers—sunflowers, reds, oranges, and pinks—while the other two sit on the grass in front of her, leaning comfortably against each other. All three are smiling and looking off-camera, creating a candid, joyful feel. The background is filled with lush green trees draped in Spanish moss, and the warm sunlight filtering through the trees gives the image a soft, dreamy glow. The overall mood feels celebratory, summery, and styled like a senior photoshoot or friendship portrait session.

A Marsh That Had Other Plans

Let’s be honest, this shoot almost looked very different. We originally planned to do the spring session in early March, but we had a slower, chillier winter than usual and spring was dragging its feet. I asked the girls on the team if they’d be okay doing their cap and gown session in March and pushing the spring session back, because I had a very specific vision in my head and I was not about to photograph it against a field of brown, winter-sad grass.

They were on board. So we waited.

And it was absolutely worth it.

This image is a three-panel collage from an outdoor portrait session set in a grassy field during golden hour. The warm sunlight and moss-covered trees in the background create a soft, Southern countryside atmosphere. Left panel: Three young women pose together around a vintage-style chair decorated with vibrant flowers in reds, yellows, oranges, and pinks. Two stand behind the chair while one sits in front. They’re wearing light-colored dresses and cowboy boots, smiling warmly toward the camera. Center panel: The trio walks through the tall grass arm-in-arm, laughing and looking at one another. Their flowing white dresses and boots give the scene a carefree, rustic feel. Right panel: The women stand close together holding bouquets and raising flowers in the air in a celebratory pose. Sunlight streams through the trees behind them, adding a bright, glowing backlight. Overall, the collage feels joyful, feminine, and styled like a senior, graduation, or friendship-themed photoshoot with boho and country-inspired elements.

The Chair That Lived in My Garage for a Year

Here’s the part of the story I feel like I need to tell, because it’s very on-brand for how creative projects actually go.

About a year ago, my friend Claire at Wonderland Studios gave me a chair. It sat in my garage for months, just waiting. It was pink, and I had this idea that it would look beautiful stuffed with flowers in the middle of a field. So I tried to bleach it into a pretty cream color.

That was a mistake.

It turned a very, very ugly yellow. So I grabbed some fabric spray paint and painted the whole thing blue. Does it look super blue in the final photos? Not really. Am I still happy with how it turned out? Very much yes.

Sometimes you problem-solve your way to something better than your original plan. That’s just part of the creative process.

This image is a three-panel collage featuring individual portraits of three young women outdoors in a grassy field during golden hour. Each woman is seated in the same vintage blue armchair decorated with vivid floral arrangements in bright yellows, oranges, reds, pinks, and whites. Moss-covered trees and warm sunlight create a dreamy Southern countryside backdrop. Left panel: A red-haired woman in a light embroidered dress reclines comfortably in the chair with her cowboy boots propped up. She smiles softly toward the camera, surrounded by colorful flowers woven around the chair. Center panel: A brunette woman in a short white dress and cowboy boots poses playfully in the chair, leaning back with one arm lifted over her head. The pose feels carefree and energetic, with sunlight glowing behind her. Right panel: A blonde woman in a flowing white dress sits sideways in the chair, looking over her shoulder with a relaxed smile. The image has a softer, more elegant feel, with the flowers framing the chair and her dress draping into the grass. The collage blends rustic, bohemian, and country-inspired styling with bright floral details and warm natural lighting, creating a joyful and polished portrait-session aesthetic.

How the Day Actually Came Together

I showed up about two hours before the session started. I cut flowers, sliced different parts of the chair open, and stuffed them in. It was a lot of hands-on prep work on-location, but that kind of behind-the-scenes effort is exactly what makes the final images feel special rather than staged.

I asked all the girls to wear white flowy dresses. Since I wasn’t sure what color flowers I’d end up buying the day of, white gave us the most flexibility and honestly, it looked gorgeous.

The location itself is about an hour from where I live, so I don’t get out there often, but it is very pretty. We worked through a few different spots during the session:

  • The chair in the field – flowers, dresses, golden hour energy
  • The marshy field background – a completely different feel, more open and natural
  • Under the oak trees – light filtering through the moss in that way that only happens in this part of the world

Each spot had its own mood, and together they made for a full, layered gallery that every girl on the team could feel excited about.

And for the record – no reptiles were spotted during the session. I was very relieved about that.

This image is a three-panel portrait collage featuring three young women individually posed in a grassy field during golden hour. The lighting is soft and warm, with a bright sky and a peaceful countryside background. Left panel: A brunette woman wearing a short strapless white dress kneels in the grass with one hand resting in her hair. She smiles warmly toward the camera, and the relaxed pose gives the image a casual, carefree feel. Center panel: A red-haired woman in a white embroidered dress sits in the grass facing forward. She smiles gently at the camera, with wildflowers and tall grass in the foreground adding a soft natural texture to the portrait. Right panel: A blonde woman in a flowing white dress with side cutouts sits gracefully in the grass, turned slightly to the side while looking off-camera with a bright smile. Her pose feels elegant and relaxed. The collage has a cohesive airy and feminine style, with neutral white dresses contrasting beautifully against the vivid green grass and warm sunlight. The overall mood feels joyful, natural, and polished, like a senior or graduation portrait session.

Individual Portraits Plus Group Shots – The Best of Both Worlds

One thing that makes a senior team session (or a senior group session) so worth it is that no one has to choose between getting great solo photos and having fun with their friends. Everyone gets both.

For this final session, each senior got her own individual portraits, and we also captured group moments together. We incorporated the flowers and the chair, and I also brought extra bouquets that didn’t make it into the chair stuffing – those ended up being a great prop for individual shots too.

It’s a full experience, and it shows in the photos.

The photos are backlit by warm golden-hour sunlight, creating a glowing, dreamy atmosphere. Left panel: A blonde woman in a flowing white dress stands turned slightly away from the camera while looking back over her shoulder with a smile. She holds a small bouquet of flowers at her side, and the sunlight highlights her hair and dress. Center panel: A brunette woman wearing a short white dress and cowboy boots stands confidently with one hand on her hip and a bouquet in the other. She smiles directly toward the camera, framed by sunlit moss hanging from the trees behind her. Right panel: A red-haired woman in a white embroidered dress and cowboy boots poses similarly, looking back toward the camera while holding a bouquet of vibrant flowers. The warm backlighting creates a soft glow around her hair and the flowers. The collage combines rustic country styling with elegant boho elements, using soft white dresses, bouquets, and natural scenery to create a bright, celebratory portrait-session aesthetic.

The Senior Experience Team Is Retiring – But Senior Group Sessions Are Not

Here’s what I want to make sure is really clear: the Senior Experience Team program is wrapping up, but if you want to do a senior session with your best friends, I am absolutely still booking senior group sessions.

Listen, for real – senior year is one of those things that sounds like it’ll last forever while you’re in it, and then one day you’re unpacking boxes in a dorm room and realizing that the friendships you had in high school were something genuinely specific to that time and place. No matter how hard you try to hold onto them as you get older, they’re never quite the same as they are when you’re all still in the same hallway every day.

A senior group session is one more experience you get to have together before everything changes. And those photos will mean something in a way that’s hard to explain until you’re looking back at them years later.

If that sounds like something you want, get in touch and let’s get a date on the calendar.

Three young women pose together in a sunlit grassy field with large moss-covered trees in the background. The setting has a warm golden-hour glow, with sunlight filtering in from the upper right side of the image. One woman sits in a vintage-style chair decorated with bright flowers in shades of yellow, orange, red, pink, and white. She wears a light-colored embroidered dress and cowboy boots, resting one arm casually on the chair. The other two women stand close beside her, smiling toward the camera. One wears a short strapless white dress with cowboy boots, while the other wears a flowing white dress with side cutouts. The composition feels balanced and relaxed, combining rustic country styling with soft boho elements. The colorful floral arrangements contrast beautifully against the green grass and dark trees, giving the portrait a cheerful and celebratory atmosphere.
