Where to Eat for Prom in Savannah | Jaden Giorgianni Photography

< back to blog

Prom is right around the corner and one of the big questions that comes up when planning the perfect prom outing is “where should we eat?” Whether you are going out with your date, a girls group, or a big group of friends I’ve got some local Savannah restaurants you should consider!

Arco

“Perched above Savannah’s historic River Street, Arco is nestled within a beautiful 1860 Victorian building. Step off Factor’s walk and through the grand arched doorway and leave your inhibitions at the door as you are embraced by the soaring arches and majestic vaults that frame the breathtaking view of the river. ” – Arco Website

Why I’m suggesting: Arco has a fun laid back but upscale vibe with a great view. When I think on a place to eat that you’ll remember this one comes to mind!

You can make your reservation to Arco on Resy – I’m all about easy reservations!

Dishes I recommend trying: The Farm (charcuterie board), Marinated Baby Octopus, and Burrito (soft mozzarella ball) & heirloom tomatoes – all pictured below.

Arco would be great for a prom date night, a group of girlfriends, and a mixed couples group.

Ardsley Station

“Ardsley Station, located in Savannah GA, specializes in approachable American Southern Cuisine, wine, beer and craft cocktails. We’re a local restaurant that loves to source our ingredients from local vendors to support our community. If you’re dining in Savannah, we’re one spot you can’t miss! Enjoy our indoor or outdoor seating with a retractable roof, firepit and TV’s.” – Ardsley Station Website

Why I’m suggesting: Easy to access without having to go all the way downtown. I’ve never had a bad dining experience here!

You can make your reservation to Arco on OpenTable.

Dishes I recommend trying: Southern Poutine, Beef Tenderloin Tips, and Pecan Pesto.

Ardsley Station would be great for a prom date night, a group of girlfriends, and a mixed couples group.

Cohen’s Retreat

“Capturing the spirit of the South as an eclectic destination for fabulous food, unique shopping and charming cottages!” – Cohen’s Retreat Website

Why I’m suggesting: Another spot you’ll remember 20 years from now. The food and atmosphere are always great and the dining rooms are very instagrammable.

You can make your reservation to Cohen’s Retreat by calling the restaurant or visiting their website.

Dishes I recommend trying: Southern Tomato Pie, Rack of Lamb, and Shrimp Pasta (honestly I would eat everything on their menu)

Cohen’s Retreat would be great for a prom date night, a group of girlfriends, and a mixed couples group.

Collins Quarter (Bull St.)

“For us, food is everything. Enjoy healthy, fresh food, made from the best ingredients, our extensive wine list and exceptional coffee. Experience the difference!” – Collins Quarter Website

Why I’m suggesting: Great location downtown with a good atmosphere and great food! I will say I mostly eat at the Forsyth location for lunch/brunch but when I’ve gone to the downtown location for dinner it never disappoints.

You can make your reservation to Collins Quarter (downtown) on Resy.

Dishes I recommend trying: Nduja & Cheese Dip, Icelandic Salmon, and Short Rib Calamarata.

Collins Quarter would be great for a prom date night, a group of girlfriends, and a mixed couples group.

Cotton & Rye

“Fusing modern techniques with traditional arts like sausage and pâté making, breads from scratch, and grinding our own meat for burgers, we embrace the rich past of our craft while carving our own history with a unique blend of flavorful offerings.” – Cotton & Rye Website

Why I’m suggesting: I don’t think there’s better dessert options in town. If this list weren’t in alphabetical order Cotton & Rye would be the first restaurant listed.

You can make your reservation to Cotton & Rye on Resy or by visiting their website. If you have more than 6 people in your party you have to fill out a reservation request on their website.

Dishes I recommend trying: Fried Chicken Thighs (yep, even in your prom dress), Scallops appetizer, DESSERT!!! Seriously, don’t skip dessert here!

Cotton & Rye would be great for a prom date night, a group of girlfriends, and a mixed couples group.

Fleeting

“Blending global flavors and techniques with regional classics, fleeting brings the coastline to tableside with a commitment to hyper-local ingredients.  Dedicated to translating the seasons onto each plate, ingredients are selected at their peak moment in time to truly savor the beauty of the present, creating one-of-a-kind moments for both special celebrations and every day dining.” – Fleeting Website

Why I’m suggesting: Fleeting is a classically elegant restaurant and every plate of food is perfection. When I think of going to a “nice” dinner for prom Fleeting is at the top of my list. Also, easy parking down at the Eastern Wharf.

You can make your reservation to Fleeting on Resy.

Dishes I recommend trying: Their menu does change but everything I’ve ever eaten (or stolen off someone in my party’s plate) is amazing!! If they have a burrata order it, I’m a burrata nut so I’ll always suggest that.

Fleeting would be great for a prom date night or a small (under 6) group.

Little Duck Diner

“The Little Duck Diner is a “vintage chic diner” reminiscent of dining cars and diners of the late 20’s and 30’s with a contemporary twist. Inspired by our “little ducklings,” our children, the diner embodies the youthfulness within all of us with the refinement and quirks of an era from which the “Diner” as we know it was born.” – Little Duck Diner Website

Why I’m suggesting: Instagram! and great food. Back in my day (dating myself lol), people who wanted to be quirky with their prom dining decisions went to McDonalds, now you can do the fun quirky thing that isn’t “fine dining” without sacrificing the quality of food you’re having to eat for dinner.

You can make your reservation to Little Duck Diner on Resy.

Dishes I recommend trying: Shrimp Risotto Stacker, Grilled Salmon Bowl, Duck Grilled Cheese (another potentially messy one but you got this!)

Little Duck Diner would be great for a prom date night, a group of girlfriends, and a mixed couples group.

Saint Bibiana

“Our coastal Italian restaurant tucked inside a historic mansion made for swooning. Timeless glamor, impeccable food, effortless energy. Saint Bibiana is house-made pasta, al fresco spritzes, and leisurely dinner parties. Convivial, a bit sceney—where everyone is a regular.” – Saint Bibiana Website

Why I’m suggesting: A quintessential prom dinner spot…what’s better than a restaurant in a mansion off Savannah’s iconic Forsyth Park? I think dining at Saint Bibiana for prom will be a dinner you won’t forget!

You can make your reservation to Saint Bibiana on Resy.

Dishes I recommend trying: Campanella, Olive Brined Chicken, and the cipollini onions

Saint Bibiana would be great for a prom date night or a small (under 6) group.

Shuk

“Gather and relish in fresh, honest, and creative fare inspired by the flavors of The Mediterranean” – Shuk Website

Why I’m suggesting: I love Shuk! The food is amazingly fresh and the vibe of the restaurant is fun and colorful. I think this would be a great spot for a prom dinner if you are looking for somewhere easy (you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you) but still want an amazing meal and great Instagram photos.

Groups of 6 or more can make reservations by visiting their website.

Dishes I recommend trying: Whipped Feta, Chicken Shawarma (green is my preference over rice), and the Schnitzel & Waffle.

Shuk would be great for a prom date night, a group of girlfriends, and a mixed couples group.

Vic’s on the River

“Vic’s is located in a beautiful old cotton warehouse overlooking the Savannah River and Historic River Street, with easy access entrances on both Bay and River Streets. Enjoy spectacular waterfront views from the dining room, or dine under centuries-old Live Oaks overlooking Historic Factors Walk from our outdoor patio. Along with spectacular views, our menu reflects Savannah’s Southern Charm with a sophisticated take on traditional cuisine from the region, complete with fresh, local seafood selections. We invite you to experience Contemporary Southern Cuisine alongside gracious and attentive service, where nothing is overlooked but the Savannah River.” – Vic’s on the River Website

Why I’m suggesting: Vic’s is another great option for a classic prom night dinner. The food is great and the location/view is even better!

If your party is 4 or less you can make your reservation to Vic’s on Resy or by visiting their website. Parties of more than 4 can call.

Dishes I recommend trying: Pan seared sea scallops, Braised beef short ribs, and Beef Carpaccio.

Vic’s would be great for a prom date night or a small (4 or less) group.
