The Senior Experience Team has quickly become the best program I offer high school seniors. Over the course of their senior year students are invited to attend 4 scheduled group photoshoots – each with a different theme/style. These shoots are very simple but so much fun both for me and for the seniors! This year was such a fun year and I can’t wait to share it with you all in one place!
Senior Team Welcome Session
We started the class of 2024 with a summer welcome session and dinner in Starland Yard. Everyone met and we spent an hour in the Starland District taking photos before heading inside Starland yard for a group dinner. This was the first time the four seniors met and I so happy with how quickly they became comfortable with each other! During the entire session they cheered each other on and helped each other feel comfortable – the whole photoshoot was laugh after laugh, I’ve never seen a group of strangers bond so quickly!
Senior Team Tailgate Pop Up
Pop up sessions are photoshoots that aren’t scheduled as part of the regular 4 group shoots promised for The Senior Experience Team. They happen when I get an opportunity to work with other local businesses, when I have an idea for a fun session, or when I want to test out a new location.
For our first pop up session I partnered with Swag Tees and took the girls to Memorial Stadium for a Tailgate Shoot! Depending on the pop up, senior team members are welcome to bring a friend and sometimes I invite other high school student from the area I know to join.
Swag Tees made each girl a high school t-shirt AND a t-shirt from their favorite college to model for the photoshoot – this session definitely makes my top 5 best senior team shoots!
Senior Sessions on Tybee
One of the best parts of being a coastal town is getting to do a sunset session at the beach each year for the senior team! This year the color theme was “bright and bold” and I’d say these girls pulled it off perfectly!! I had each girl bring two outfits and we were able to take photos by the dunes and mid-beach area in one set of outfits before changing and heading down to the water for the second set of outfits.
Tree Farm Pop Up Session
We were able to slide a tree farm pop up session into our year! Rahn Farms in Effingham allows photographers to book times before they start selling Christmas trees for photoshoots so at the end of October (yes, October lol) we hauled ourselves out to the farm for a pop up session. For this session we did a pajamas look and then a sweaters and jeans look. It was really warm out but the girls were troopers and we got the photoshoot done!
Senior Team Galentine’s Session
Our 3rd pop up session stemmed from me needing to test some lighting elements for a studio style session. The girls came to my house where I set up a Galentine’s photoshoot in my living room. We did two outfits and two backdrops and even did photos blowing confetti. I think it took me 2 months to get all the confetti up from around my living room and random areas of my house!! It was totally worth it though for the fun we had and the great photos!
Senior Sessions in Downtown Savannah
Our next schedule group session was “the big one” for the year! Every session we do has a bit of a theme but for at least one session during the year I really plan a full themed shoot. This year the theme was “Bikes & Besties” and the shoot was so much fun! I borrowed bikes from friends and neighbors and made flower bouquets – we headed to Forsyth Park for some fun on the bikes, photos with the blooming azaleas, and a small picnic in the park to round off the session.
Savannah Spring Fair Pop Up
Another pop up!!! This year was full of fun scheduled sessions and pop up sessions and this fair pop up didn’t disappoint. I was driving down DeRenne one afternoon and a billboard caught my attention – Savannah Spring Fair. When I got home I googled it and found out the dates for the fair.
The fair just happened to coincide with my recruitment window for the class of 2025 Senior Experience Team so I decided a fun idea would be to host the pop up with the class of 2024 AND invite the girls who had already been accepted for the class of 2025.
We had so much fun – meeting new friends, getting to know each other, taking photos, and of course riding the rides!! I honestly thought we’d be there for maybe an hour give or take but we all stayed for over 4 hours!
Cap and Gown Session in Downtown Savannah
Our year wrapped up with a team cap and gown session. We met in Emmet Park, which is right off Bay Street, and spent the afternoon under the oaks and on the iron walkways of Factor’s Walk. This session is bittersweet – it’s a full circle moment where I get to see each of the girls wrapping up their senior year. They have all grown and changed during the year and this session was just the bow on top of a great year!!
This session starts with white dress photos, adds cap & gowns, and ends with everyone changing into their college tees. It’s one of the best sessions!! This year I even bought a fun pink cap & gown set just to add some extra color to some of the group photos!!
We were missing one of our seniors (she was one of the leads in a play and had to miss) and the dynamic was different but we did get a date scheduled for her to take cap & gown photos so she didn’t miss out completely!
I’m so happy to have gotten to spend the year with each of these girls and some of their friends!!
